What will you be doing!

• Gathering, analyzing, and assembling various technical information from CNL legacy drawings, reports, and logs.
• Preparing documentation for review and approval by the Site Review Committee (SRC) and Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) members, ensuring accuracy, concise content, and high-quality technical writing.
• Assisting with work maintenance plans, providing information for their creation, ensuring readiness for field execution, and supporting work closeout.
• Ensuring preparation of clearances in advance for Preventative Maintenance execution, including Order-to-Operate and Job Hazard Analysis.
• Identifying cost-effective technical solutions for a variety of maintenance or decommissioning activities.
• Remaining abreast of global decommissioning activities and methods.
• Resolving complex problems and design issues during decommissioning activities.
• Acting as technical lead to resolve abnormal conditions and ensuring proper equipment performance in decommissioning facilities.
• Serving as a system expert/subject matter expert for various systems and facilities.
• Providing technical data, documentation, and expertise to planning staff to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
• Assessing equipment failures/issues and developing strategies to troubleshoot and return to normal operating conditions or providing novel solutions to meet department objectives.
• Providing field oversight during the execution of work to identify areas for increasing efficiency, optimizing safe work efforts, and streamlining activities.
• Generating documentation and work packages to ensure safe and appropriate execution of Preventative Maintenance and other new work activities.
• Acting as Operations Representative for the creation and/or implementation of Engineering Change Control.
• Researching and providing input for design changes and equipment replacement/upgrading.
• Interacting with regulatory personnel, such as CNSC and IAEA.
• Assisting Facility Authority (FA)/Facility Manager (FM) with response, reporting, and investigating abnormal events.
• Participating in various site technical committees and workgroups as the Decommissioning Representative.
• Preparing technical reports and researching data on tools, equipment, and techniques used in decommissioning.
• Conducting field walk-downs to verify existing conditions and support maintenance work and regulatory-required documents.
• Preparing, requesting, and providing information to support Design Engineering and Site Maintenance.
• Working closely with Facilities Decommissioning, Health Safety Security & Environment (HSSE), and Program Execution teams to support decommissioning activities.
• Interpreting complex drawings and specifications.
• Working with various teams to obtain information and assist with building transfer documentation.
• Assisted planning staff in developing work plans by providing reference documentation and specifications and leading engineering changes.
• Organizing and resourcing workforce initiatives with respect to personnel and materials.
• Providing both immediate and long-term solutions to emergent issues.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.
  

What we are looking for:

• Education

  • Honours Bachelor's degree in engineering or applied science from a university of recognized standing and the ability to become a Member of a Provincial professional engineering association (i.e. PEO).

• Experience
  • Experience in operational, industrial maintenance, construction, or decommissioning environments.
  • Experience with industrial electrical, steam, HVAC, fire protection, and/or industrial-mechanical systems (multiple backgrounds are an asset).
  • Experience reading and understanding complex drawings, flowsheets, technical specifications, and engineering-driven documents.
  • Experience preparing detailed work instructions and Lock-Out Tag-Out documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in the development and prioritization of cohesive team objectives.
  • Experience or educational background in industrial-electrical, steam, HVAC, fire protection, and/or industrial-mechanical systems (multiple background areas are an asset).

• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of construction and demolition techniques.
  • Knowledge of systems, structures, and components associated with nuclear reactors and supporting nuclear facilities.
  • Knowledge of building-related and plant-related infrastructure.
  • Awareness of ASME, CSA, National Building Code, National Fire Code, and other applicable codes and standards, as well as their application to decommissioning.
  • Knowledge of CNSC regulatory documents and requirements (e.g., CSA N294, CNSC regulation guide G-219, and the CNL Site License Condition Handbook).
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and their application is an asset.
  • Knowledge and application of radiation protection principles, measurements, and contamination control (minimum Group 3 certification required).
  • Knowledge of computer-based asset management systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a questioning attitude.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, including establishing priorities, defining action plans, setting and meeting deadlines, and monitoring performance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot systems based on client reporting and visual/auditory cues.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to draw from past experiences to develop solutions to new problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and complex drawings.
  • Involvement in and understanding of configuration management (considered an asset).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various groups at all levels, both on project and non-project-related activities.
  • Proven initiative, motivation, and strong people skills to collaborate with peers and internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment to meet department objectives.
  • Ability to read and understand complex drawings, flowsheets, technical specifications, and related documentation to determine system function and operation.
  • Ability to develop skills and knowledge about systems, equipment, and procedures to act as a subject matter/system expert.
  • Ability to employ Hazardous Energy Control in an industrial environment.
  • Having a working knowledge of Waste Management principles and volume reduction methodologies.

• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."
