We are looking for a design planner to provide engineering planning and support services which includes coordinating and scheduling smaller scope/complexity projects to support the effective management of all resources within the engineering organization. What you will be doing!

  • Interfacing with internal customers and engineering staff to collect relevant design information to establish job requirements, scope of work and identify resource requirements.
  • Coordinating development of the Design Planning Package (DPP), cost estimate and present to line management for review and approval.
  • Maintaining personal schedule.
  • Providing assistance in identifying, addressing and troubleshooting a variety of routine issues to prevent or mitigate loss of schedule and budget.
  • Providing job progress updates and status reports to supervision.
  • Assisting mission leads with job initiation tasks (i.e. risk assessment input, attending ECC meetings etc.).
  • Participating in field walk downs with the assigned design team to determine job scope.
  • Confirming resource availability to support various jobs.
  • Addressing review comments from design plan review team.
  • Providing support to design engineering as required.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, college, or equivalent formal education, in a field relevant to the position.
  • Experience
    • A minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience is required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Strong organizational skills are required.
    • Experience working with Engineers and Technologists is considered an asset.
    • Excellent coordination skills required and experience coordinating schedules is preferred.
    • Ability to collect and compile information from a variety of stakeholders.
    • Strong MS Excel and Word skills are required.
    • Knowledge of organizational and job/project work structure to implement CNL and engineering procedures, work practices and records management systems.
    • A good understanding of the various types of engineering drawings and documents is preferred.
    • Good research and writing skills. Must be able to gather, analyze, and assemble a variety of technical information and translate the information into work execution steps.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
