Do you have an ACZ class driver’s license and 2 years experience in the operation of “A” class motor vehicles? If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you! Our Drivers operate motor vehicles such as pick-up trucks, and cube vans to transport people, equipment, and materials as well as tractor/trailers, flask trucks, snow plows, belly plows, roll-off trucks, and other vehicles to transport equipment and materials safely and efficiently within the operational guidelines of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) and the Ministry of Transport regulations.

What will you be doing!

  • Picks up material and equipment which could include radioactive materials from pre-arranged locations, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and complete; ensures that the load is safely fastened; delivers the load to a pre-arranged destination to ensure the timely delivery of goods in a safe manner in compliance with regulations.
  • Picks up personnel and/or visitors from a pre-arranged location and transports them to their destination in a safe, timely and courteous manner.
  • Completes a vehicle circle check when taking possession of a vehicle and reports any major maintenance issues for the safe operation of the vehicle.
  • May operate other vehicles such as snow plows, flask trucks, belly plows, tandems, 4 tons, roll-off trucks and hoists to assist tradespeople and job site crews and facilitate the workflow.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the vehicles used to uphold an established corporate image.
  • Participates in the orientation of new drivers to ensure consistent work methods.
  • Member of the Emergency Response Team to assist in the “stay-in” or evacuation of the area, on or off-site in the event of an emergency.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices of all work areas, tools, and equipment, adhering to provincial, federal, and CNL regulations to provide a safe and efficient working environment. Attend monthly safety meetings and immediately report any safety concerns and/or infractions. Apply CNL’s Event Free Tools procedure throughout the execution of assigned work and model this behavior and knowledge to others.

What we are looking for :

  • Education:
    • Secondary school graduation diploma
  • Experience:
    • ACZ class driver’s license with a clean driving record (Driver abstract check every six months)
    • Two years experience in the operation of “A” class motor vehicles.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Familiar with the operation and safety features of a variety of equipment such as snow plows, hoists, flatbed and drop deck trailers
    • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – Class 7 certification
    • Knowledge of Ministry of Transportation regulations
    • Mechanical skills to complete circle checks of vehicles and fix minor defects
    • Familiarity with cargo securement
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
