Can you see yourself working with Subject Matter Experts (including Occupational Safety and Health, Fire Protection, Radiation Protection, Electrical Safety, Pressure Boundary Specialists, Facility Representatives, Predictive Maintenance Specialists, and Preventive Maintenance Assessors) to perform maintenance categorization, identify existing maintenance deficiencies, optimize maintenance schedules through the creation and revision of Preventive Maintenance Technical Basis, and develop System Performance Monitoring Plans and System Health Reports to improve system reliability, availability and manage the aging of systems, assets and infrastructure? What will you be doing!

  • Reviewing and/or recommending technical specifications for equipment, tests, and processes/procedures.
  • Providing engineering support during requirements development, design, construction, installation, and commissioning and turnover project phases.
  • Providing subject matter expert review and commenting on designs.
  • Developing and executing System Performance Monitoring Plans and System Health Reports.
  • Developing engineering specifications and standards facilitating a consistent design approach.
  • Developing and improving maintenance strategies.
  • Assigning maintenance strategies for equipment.
  • Restoring configuration management for process, mechanical, and electrical systems.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • At a minimum, a Bachelor (Honours) degree in Engineering from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
  • Experience
    • Experience with reliability centered maintenance, predictive maintenance is an asset.
    • Experience with vibration analysis, motor circuit analysis, infrared analysis, and ultrasonic applications in maintenance procedures is an asset.
    • Experience working in a nuclear environment asset.
    • Experience with electrical systems, HVAC systems, process systems is an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment in technical matters, to routinely solve technical problems and to make independent decisions.
    • Excellent oral and written English communication skills; previous experience making technical presentations to small and large audiences.
    • This position will require good organization skills and patience.
    • Knowledge of Design Engineering practices, Engineering Change Control and Configuration Management.
    • Knowledge of reliability centred maintenance principles and theory.
    • Knowledge of condition based maintenance technologies, and practices.
    • Knowledge of CRL Radiation Protection practices.
    • An understanding of CNL's Fitness for Service Program is an asset
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."

Location :

This role is a fully onsite role that requires the employee to primarily work at CNL's Chalk River Laboratory site, with only occasional opportunities to work remotely, if desired by the employee. CNL's Chalk River laboratory is nestled in the Ottawa Valley and affords our employees an area that is environmentally pristine with extensive forests, hills and numerous small lakes, all of which support a variety of wildlife typical to the southern edge of the Canadian Shield.
