What will you be doing!

  • Developing/maintaining and managing a maintenance and operations program for a complex group of buildings. These responsibilities will include:
    • Maintaining and tracking the maintenance status of all building equipment and assets.
    • Initiating detailed corrective and preventive maintenance work requests.
    • Acting as Area Owner for all building maintenance activities.
    • Developing work plans and LOTO documentation as required to support work package development.
    • Attending and constructively participating in the maintenance scheduling process, ensuring work is coordinated and ready for execution at pre-defined milestones.
    • Managing preventive maintenance deferrals in accordance with the PM Deferral program.
    • Tracking the status and compliance of work executed through alternate service delivery contracts.
    • Identifying energy savings and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Participating in the work and business planning processes including the following:
    • Managing and tracking maintenance activities in accordance with established work management processes.
    • Interfacing with both Infrastructure Management and Maintenance Zones to monitor and expedite maintenance activities as required to meet facility requirements.
    • Identifying objectives for the Infrastructure Management business plan and developing strategies for achieving them.
    • Supporting the annual preparation of budget plans complete with detailed itemized activities, cash flows, schedules, and resource profiles.
    • Developing capital plans for new/replacement or upgraded equipment and assets.
  • Managing daily routine services which include:
    • Performing pre-job and post-job briefs to ensure the scope of work is clear and safe practices are followed.
    • Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) review and development. A
    • cting as a technical consultant to internal/external customers. Directing and instructing external support staff.
    • Interaction and communications with Managers and staff located in the buildings.
  • Identifying and preparing criteria for building upgrades, modifications, remodeling, and enhancement projects.
  • Developing short and long-term facility Strategic Maintenance Plans.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.


What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Graduation from an Institute of Technology.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years facility maintenance management experience supporting the execution of complex mechanical, electrical or architectural maintenance activities, or 10 years equivalent experience in facility maintenance management in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Sound technical knowledge of a broad range of engineering requirements and specialties and significant related engineering working experience. Knowledge of CNL's practices, procedures, and organization is required.
    • Ability to comprehend or be cognizant of a broad range of technological and/or business issues.
    • Knowledge of CNL's practices, procedures, and organization is required; N286 documentation, General conduct of Operations, IWC, etc. would be an asset.
    • Understanding of the pressure boundary program as defined in CRL-508140-TPL-001 would be an asset.
    • Ability to work under pressure and conflicting priorities.
    • Good understanding of programs run in the facilities at CRL would be an asset.
    • Group 3 Radiation Protection principles are required. Computer skills including a good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Proficiency in both written and oral communication is required.
    • Good understanding of the National Building Code, Elevator Act, National Fire Association standards, ASHRAE standards, TSSA, and Elevating and Hoisting devices.
    • Good understanding of the Canada Labour Code, Canadian environmental laws, etc., and their impact on the operation and maintenance of facilities.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."
