The Associate Application Scientist is part of a team that designs and develops new mass spectrometry (MS) products that solve analytical challenges for our customers.

This position is part of the Product Application Lab (PAL) team and will be located on-site in Concord, Canada (greater Toronto area). It is the mission of the PAL team within Global R&D to act as the eyes and ears of our customers to ensure that product innovations meet their demands.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand and analyze customer workflows across a broad range of application areas as part of new product development.

  • Engage in cross-functional project teams to help define hardware and software product requirements.

  • Evaluate new mass spectrometry-based systems and software features to ensure that the target customer needs are met.

  • Utilize your communication skills, flexibility, thirst for knowledge, creativity and strong foundation of experimental design and analysis to achieve project goals in a cross-functional team environment.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working with nominal or accurate mass LC/MS workflows.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in a software or hardware R&D product development environment would be an asset.

  • Experience using mass spectrometry to solve real-world problems for example in any of pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical science, food or environmental testing would be beneficial.
