  • This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

As part of the Process Automation Team, the Process Control Engineer will ensure safe, reliable, and competitive operation of our process automation applications, systems, and the operating plant. This role support both capital projects and ongoing plant operations, focusing on control scheme performance monitoring, optimization, design, and alarm management activities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience with world-scale petrochemical plant operations.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Contribute as a vital member of project teams for capital projects focused on process control
  • Implement changes to DCS control logic to enhance system performance
  • Develop and maintain advanced process control applications
  • Maintain/upgrade plant process control systems
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams on commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing support activities
  • Work with diverse automation systems and software platforms, including ABB DCS systems, PLCs, and instrumentation interfaces
  • Lead hazard review processes for process control strategies and actively participate in incident investigations.
  • Drive innovation by creating and maintaining advanced control applications to optimize plant operations.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least two (2) years of hands-on experience working with DCS platforms.

    • Working toward or has obtained a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation through the PEO (or equivalent regulatory body)

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver's license
