Reporting to the Purchasing Manager or Director, this position's primary responsibility is the acquisition of any goods, services, and equipment for client departments for the best overall value.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Low to mid-level risk for errors in actions or decisions; a lack of diligence could result in some losses.

  • Access to company credit card numbers, purchase order systems, and access to financial data.

  • No direct supervision of employees; informal leadership in terms of exhibiting professional behavior which reflects positively on Procurement Department

  • Communicate directly with vendors, buying groups, and internal clients via phone/email and EDI

  • Obtain quotations, proposals, and other price offerings from vendors. Organize information and conduct comparative analysis between vendors. May make recommendations to client departments upon request.

  • Establish and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Promote the Purchasing Department's service within the company. Act as the first point of contact between users and vendors; from RFx to problem solving.

  • Act as a resource for client departments by providing guidance and assistance in matters pertaining to their purchasing requirements. Use good judgement to solve purchasing problems in absence of clients.

  • Utilize Woodbine's computerized purchasing system to create and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders. Includes placement of orders, expediting, and investigating discrepancies as required.

  • Processing both physical and computerized documents to complete the procure- to-pay cycle.

Skills:

  • General knowledge of purchasing principles and practices.

  • General knowledge of computerized systems

  • Proficient with computer software applications in a Windows environment, including MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.

  • Strong written/oral communication, and excellent interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively and professionally with WEG departments, and vendors

  • Organizations and time management abilities

  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality

  • Detail oriented, with strong analytical skills

  • High school diploma

  • Experience in an office environment

  • Minimum of two (2) years purchasing specific work experience

Experience:

  • Supervisory or management experience in any capacity.

  • Prioritizing work & deciding when a project is satisfactorily completed resides with the employee, unless management requires a different standard from time to time.

  • High levels of creativity aren't required, but the ability to occasional think differently or find a solution outside the norms would be helpful.
