Your future role on our team

BBA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our continued growth and achievement of our strategic objectives in the Hydroelectric sector. The selected candidate will play a key role in all phases of engineering projects from front end-studies through to field implementation with a focus on detailed engineering. As a senior member of the mechanical engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional technical quality, identification and development of new business opportunities and nurturing the professional development of members.

  • Perform high level engineering on penstocks, turbines, mechanical governors, bearing lubrication and cooling, shaft balancing and alignment, hydro-mechanical gates, valves, generator cooling, generator brakes and balance of plant.
  • Take a lead role in client communications and business development.
  • Be a key team member for small to major brownfield/greenfield hydroelectric projects.
  • Participate in site inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching of junior/intermediate engineers, actively sharing knowledge, and supporting the enhancement of skills within the team.
  • Foster a culture of having fun at work while producing high quality professional work.
  • Be the Project Manager or Project Leader on engineering mandates within the hydroelectric industry.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Be registered as a professional Engineer in Canada for the position of Engineer.
  • 25+ years of relevant engineering experience in the hydropower sector with a preference for 15+ years in consulting.
  • Understanding of design codes and standards: ASME, CSA, API, AWWA, US Army Corp of Engineers, USBR etc
  • Available for site work and short-term assignments (mandatory)
  • Must be a registered or the qualification to be P.Eng in Canada.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Annual base salary, based on 37.5 hours weekly, between $124 000 to $170 000
