The Opportunity:

Under Sunwing Airlines, we are looking for a Maintenance Control Engineer to join us in making vacation dreams come true. The Maintenance Control Engineer (MCC Engineer) is a supervisory role within Sunwing Airline's Maintenance Control Center (MCC).As the MCC Engineer you will effectively manage and monitor the day-to-day fleet aircraft maintenance requirements, ensuring that both technical dispatch and operational requirements are met. You will be the central point of contact for all day-to-day operational maintenance issues. In this role you will ensure 24/7 monitoring of our communications systems, ACARS and aircraft fault reporting systems to provide immediate technical and crisis management assistance to aircraft both on the ground and in-flight. The role will report to the MCC Manager and will be located in Toronto, ON.

What You'll Do:

  • To track all company aircraft and position them for maintenance, in coordination with Flight Operations
  • To assist with all troubleshooting efforts, of all Sunwing line maintenance operations and coordinate Sunwing Technical Support assistance when necessary
  • To coordinate all recovery efforts when an aircraft is in an AOG situation
  • To coordinate and communicate with Dispatch and Flight Operations on maintenance related requirements on a daily basis
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritize short term faults which may potentially impact the company's operational fleet schedule
  • Responsible for providing a daily report of aircraft serviceability as well as operational delays, incidents and cancellations from the previous day's operations for the Daily Fleet Status Meeting
  • Provide continuous tracking of deferred defects including MEL, CDL and NEF items, to ensure corrective actions are accomplished within approved time limits
  • Responsible to ensure that troubleshooting, scheduling of aircraft, research and requisitioning of parts, as well as manpower for the rectification of all open defects generated within MCC are accomplished
  • Provide technical and crisis management assistance to maintenance, flight crews and operations personnel for day to day operations - act as a point of contact with senior management during AOG situations
  • Together with the appropriate personnel, will ensure that required manpower, tooling and transportation to recover or repair unserviceable aircraft at an outstation are accomplished
  • Communicate with Sunwing Airlines Line Maintenance organizations (including contract AMO's) each day to ensure planned Work Report is accomplished
  • Continuously monitor landlines, VHF and Positronic radio calls, Satcom transmissions, as well as ACARS computer messaging system
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • Minimum 4 years industry experience on large transport category aircraft
  • Possess Transport Canada AME (M2 or E) License with the ability to obtain a company ACA
  • Possess internationally recognized passport
  • Possess Canadian Driver's License
  • Eligible to hold an Airport Security Clearance
  • Boeing 737-800 type certification preferred
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced organization
  • Must possess strong leadership qualities, capable of providing instructions, and delegating and work independently.
  • Must possess excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to identify airworthiness requirements.
  • Ability to maintain safety awareness and adhere to policies and procedures.
