Type of position: Regular

Your daily work in action

  • Assist with engineering projects based on traditional protection and control as well as IEC standard 61850 for digital power systems
  • Design and configure substation HMI/SCADA architecture
  • Work with protection diagrams (single-line, 3-line, and logic and control diagrams)
  • Configure smart electronic devices (relays, substation automation controllers, etc.)
  • Configure Ethernet switches
  • Work with protocols such as Modbus, DNP3 and IEC 61850 (MMS, GOOSE, Sample Values)
  • Perform testing at BBA's digital power systems lab
  • Assist with site commissioning of digital power systems, including SCADA
  • Be mindful of project schedules, budgets and engineering processes

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • Diploma of college studies as an electrical engineering technician or technologist or other relevant training
  • Available to travel to BBA's offices across Canada
  • Available for short- and long-term assignments at client sites across Canada
  • Some knowledge of substation technology
  • Some knowledge of how to configure protection relays
  • Asset: knowledge of IEC standard 61850
  • Asset: knowledge of how to configure HMI/SCADA systems
  • Asset: knowledge of networking, routing and switch configuration
  • Asset: knowledge of test equipment for protection relays
  • Asset: knowledge of AutoCAD software
  • Asset: bilingual (English and French)
