Reporting to the Supervisor, Composite Prep & Paint, the Composite Paint Technician applies paint to composite or metallic panels (parts) in accordance to Airbus Helicopters (AH) process specifications. Masking parts may also be required.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Apply Primer and Top paint to Composite panels:
Painter picks all parts from the rack that require the same paint process
Ensure dust and contaminants are removed using compressed air or chemical wipe
Perform painting inside paint booth using spray guns in accordance with AH predefined process.
Once parts are dried, they are removed from the booth.
Prepare booth for the next run by wetting the floor/hosing it down.
Strong knowledge AH paint process and specifications
Minor sanding and preparation to part prior to paint may be required
Paint Inspection:
Once parts are dry and de-masked, the paint technician will inspect his part for imperfections such as fish eyes, solvent pops, pinholes and dry paint before the part goes to final QA stage.
Paint technician will also check the part for paint thickness using a thickness gage.
General Equipment Maintenance/Operation:
Maintain spray guns by cleaning and replacing worn parts as needed
Maintain breathable air hood by replacing filters and worn parts as needed
Daily operation of the paint booth/ensuring paint booth is ready for the day
Inform Facilities Maintenance if they are any technical issues with the paint booth
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
3 years paint experience is an asset
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
Ability to wear steel toe footwear, face mask, Safety glasses/goggles, face shield, coveralls, gloves, ear plugs/ear muffs , and respirator
Ability to use various tools such spray guns, sanders, sanding blocks, etc.
Be a team player
Attention to detail
A self-starter
Be able to work under minimal supervision
Able to use independent action and judgment in order to solve common problems
Job Requirements:
Required to work weekly rotating shifts
Annual medical is required
Must be able to legally work in Canada
