Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Haley has a new opportunity for Casting Welders. The successful incumbent will weld various types of defects on magnesium and aluminum alloy castings per customers' specifications. We have multiple openings and the pay range is $24.15/hr to $27.45/hr. Successful candidates must be able to work 8-10 hour rotating Monday-Friday shifts.

Essential Responsibilties

  • Picks up casting, cleans and prepares surface to be welded as necessary.
  • Fits and secures back up plates as necessary.
  • Places castings in pre-heat furnace for required length of time.
  • Starts welders and regulated water coolant for torch head.
  • Selects proper electrodes, machine setting and gas flow rates and welding rod in accordance with suitability for the casting alloy to be repaired.
  • Checks temperature of casting with pyrometer.
  • Removes heated casting from furnace and welds as necessary.
  • Carries out plug welding where required.
  • Cleans and identifies weld area by approved method.
  • Removes defects as indicated by x-ray or fluorescent penetrant inspection.
  • Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of welding properties of various non-ferrous alloys, welding rods, pre-heat temperatures and allowances for the effect of shrinkage, warpage and expansion.
  • Welds test plates as required to customers' specifications.
  • Cleans welders and performs general maintenance

Essential Responsibilities

  • 1-2 years manufacturing experience will be considered an asset
  • Must have completed a recognized a post-secondary welding program
  • Must possess High School Diploma/GED Certificate or equivalent training/experience
  • All candidates will be required to pass a general aptitude test in order to be considered
  • Must be able to work 8-10 hour rotating shifts
