Your work environment at EXP

EXP's Hamilton office is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training or Junior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team.

As part of the Geotechnical/Materials Testing group and reporting directly to Project Managers and Engineers, you will be responsible for the fieldwork that may include:

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Supervision of drilling and soil sampling
• Preparation of borehole logs
• Preparation of borehole location plans in AutoCAD
• Carrying out shallow and deep foundation evaluations and reviews
• Surveying ground elevations using rod & level, total station, or GPS
• Soil identification
• Monitoring site grading activities (including limited surveying)
• Reinforcing steel review
• Work closely with contractors, consultants and municipal personnel
• Writing geotechnical proposals and reports
• Writing inspection and testing proposals and site visit reports

What your experience looks like

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or similar and P.Eng. or nearing eligibility to apply
• 3-6 years of relevant experience, preferably from a consulting engineering office environment
• Working knowledge of MTO, CSA, CCIL, and ASTM procedures is preferred but not required
• Valid driver's license and the possibility to travel throughout Southern Ontario job sites are also required (with mileage and expense reimbursement)
• Strong written and communication skills are a must
• Attention to detail
• Ability to problem solve
• Motivated individual and self-starter
