The role of the Interim HSE Regional Manager is to support their HSE Team through mentorship, coaching and encouragement. The Interim HSE Regional Manager will be an organized leader with analytic and problem-solving skills to help lead the organization in reducing and eliminating risk. Then incumbent will develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the health, safety and environmental management system; as well as influence a positive and preventative safety culture, that can communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, professional development, and measure performance based on key performance indictors for their regional HSE team.
  • Collaborate and align with operations to identify and determine HSE Regional objectives and goals
  • Implement and maintain the HSEMS (Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System) within the region
  • Establish a process to monitor, measure, analyze the effectiveness of the HSEMS within the region
  • Ensure effective and relevant HSE communication to all internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the training program within the region to ensure competency and awareness
  • Leadership engagement to influence commitment from all MN management to comply with all HSE requirements
  • Partnering with operations on HSE messaging and communications strategy
  • Reviewing the completion and quality of all HSE submitted documents and providing constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement
  • Attending all HSE applicable meetings
  • Supporting operations and Senior Leadership in managing risk by:
    • analyzing and interpreting data to identify opportunities of improvement
    • enhancing our safe work procedures by utilizing lessons learned
    • analyze HSE training needs and provide recommendations of training to ensure competency and awareness of workers
    • consulting for operations on new project site specific safety plans
    • advising on safety topics
    • developing and implementing incident and claim management process
    • Supporting the VP and Director of HSE with any additional tasks

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environment Science or similar related work experience. Relevant certifications such as CRSP, OHSC, CSC or CSP would also be considered an asset
  • Proven track record of being a leader / managing HSE teams or programs
  • Ability to oversee HSE programs and initiatives
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry specific safety regulations and standards; as well as in-depth local, regional and national HSE regulation compliance requirements
  • Experience with safety audits, inspections and risk management
  • Proficiency in HSE management software (ie Noggin)
  • Experience developing and delivering HSE training programs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong leadership capabilities with high ethical standards
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
