Position Responsibilities: #LI-Onsite #LI-RM1

  • Provide leadership and direct supervision to both production supervisors and hourly associates. This includes training associates, validating training booklets and managing the performance of your direct reports (both hourly and salaried)
  • Involvement and leadership in Continuous Improvement Programs to achieve productivity improvements.
  • Communicate with the Quality team and the production analyst regarding any updates/changes made to the formulations of a particular product.
  • Conduct lean meetings and follow up on actionable items with the team.
  • Facilitate LOTO training.
  • Take lead in SWP and risk assessments.
  • Oversee product quality and take proactive steps in managing the complaints.
  • Attend meetings with the Union, hourly associates and Human relations when required.
  • Make recommendations regarding line improvements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure that you and your team are in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, JHSC recommendations, MOL work orders, Company Safety rules and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Provide performance management counseling and/or progressive discipline in a timely fashion when required.
  • Participate in monthly safety/crew talks.
  • Ensure execution of sensory evaluations, pH and moisture tests and moles and next steps
  • Take initiative and exercise good judgment in day-to-day business decisions.
  • Learn, develop and exhibit behaviors consistent with the priorities of safety, quality and performance.
  • Schedule associates and productions shifts with a multi-shift unionized environment.
  • Conduct and assist in accident investigation and take an active role in WSIB case management and ensuring early and safe return of injured workers to modified and/or productive duties. Follow up with the root cause that are identified from the incident that occurred.
  • Work with cross-functional departments to maintain and improve product quality standards, while reducing plant waste and improving on production efficiency.
  • Be flexible, capable and willing to be "hands on" to perform any other technical or production-related task, as the circumstances require.
  • Lead execution of risk assessments to reduce safety risks in respective areas
  • Review and analyze product compliance according to the quality specifications
  • Must be knowledgeable and be able to follow GMPs, Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements
  • Control direct labour hours through Kronos verification
  • Line coverage as needed
  • Cover vacation gaps in the event of an emergency.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • The successful candidate will possess a relevant post secondary education
  • 5 years plus in Supervisory experience with some experience in a unionized facility
  • Previous experience in a unionized food, dairy, beverage or packaged goods industry is a definite asset.
  • Experience with bread, buns, muffin, or tortilla production is highly valued.
  • Superior communication skills in a multi-cultural environment and the ability to deal with a variety of front line industrial relations issues.
  • Takes initiative, exercises good judgment in day-to-day business decisions.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of good labour/management practices including progressive discipline and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards, regulations and best practices.
  • The flexibility to adapt to a 24 hour, 7 day operation schedule
