Your Role
The Farm Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of poultry farming equipment and barn facilities.Day to Day
- Maintain and repair poultry equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Service and operate various farming machinery, including tractors and ventracs.
- Perform regular cleaning of poultry barns, including power washing and the use of farm machinery.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all farm equipment and infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues within the farm facilities.
- Utilize hand tools and electrical tools to carry out maintenance and repairs.
- Interpret technical manuals and blueprints to carry out repairs and maintenance of farm equipment and facilities.
- Communicate with Farm Managers and barn staff regarding maintenance schedules, repairs, and updates.
- Ensure all farm maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- This position requires travel to various New-Life Mills farm locations so you will require a valid Canadian driver's license in good standing authorizing you to drive independently during your employment.
- Previous experience as a maintenance worker or in a similar position, preferably in a farming or agricultural setting.
- Strong knowledge of farming equipment, including poultry systems, tractors, and ventracs.
- Basic understanding of plumbing and electrical systems.
- Competence in using hand and electrical tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
