The Corporate Asset Management & Fleet Department at the City of Kingston is actively working on innovative projects that will further enhance our internal processes and procedures.
Under the direction of the Director, Corporate Asset Management and Fleet, the Engineering Student - Asset Management will perform a variety of asset management related duties to assist in long-term planning and work prioritization activities for municipal assets.
Responsibilities include:
Assist with asset management related measures (lifecycle costs, level of service, depreciation, etc.) to identify emerging issues and trends
Assist in the collection and analysis of data from the City's GIS
Assist in the preparation, organization and maintenance of Asset Management records, reports, and systems
Assist in the preparation of necessary reports for management, Council, and senior government
Assist in the creation of standard operating procedures related to updating asset management records and capture of relevant data
Provide assistance to the Asset Management and Fleet Department as may be required
Assist in gathering data related to asset performance, condition, and maintenance. Support the creation of asset registers and databases
Use asset management software tools to track and manage assets and help with implementing software solutions for asset data management
Other duties as assigned
MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME POST SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF 2025 - Verification will be required
Enrollment in college or university in the field of Engineering Technology, Asset Management, GIS, or a related field is required
Must have a valid Class 'G' Driver's Licence with a satisfactory driver's abstract; and must provide own transportation

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer service skills, including the ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of internal and external clients and the public
Ability to work effectively, independently and as a team member
Intermediate skills in MS Office products including PowerBI
Organizational and time management skills with a capacity to learn
Solutions-orientated and equipped with excellent computer, written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
Capable of working with minimal supervision
Ability to work with asset management software or willingness to learn
Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check at candidate's own expense
Working conditions:
Candidate must supply their own personal CSA approved steel-toed work boots and work clothes
A combination of working from home, in-office work and attending sites within the City of Kingston
