Job Summary
Obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef
Set up items for purchase on daily basis.
Assist in the preparation and cooking of various food items
Wash, peel, cut and shred fruits and vegetables and fruits
Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
Serve meals or prepare for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared
Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
Resolve customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor.
Provide service in all retail areas, including cashiering and line serving
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed
Assist in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
Assist in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensure food and supply items are stored per standards
Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control. Notify cooks if food temperatures are not within acceptable limits.
Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc
Maintain work area and equipment. Follow principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment
Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Store or discard excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately
Qualifications
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
Ability to work in a self-directed environment and effectively within an interdisciplinary team
A team player with effective communication skills
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong time management and organizational skills to be able to manage heavy workload.
Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
Experience in basic food preparation
Ability to operate cooking equipment and complete all other cooking tasks
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
