What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• lead and conduct risk assessments, financial evaluations, audits of service providers and financial analysis
• prepare business cases that support the development and implementation of new contract delivery and oversight and service provider management models
• provide financial and risk assessment advice regarding contract delivery and oversight
• manage service providers and their support to regional staff, branch and division management, other ministries and stakeholders

How do I qualify?

Financial Analysis Experience

• You know non-governmental financial and managerial accounting principles and practices, Canadian auditing standards
• You know and can apply risk assessment approaches in order to conduct financial analyses, economics, industry and market analysis methods and techniques
• You can assess risks and business cases in support of new qualification control and oversight measures
• You can identify trends and potential risks for new contract procurement and oversight and operations
• You can interpret and apply policies, standards and priorities and government directions to ensure ministry objectives are met
• You have knowledge of highway improvement contracting and oversight approaches in order to conduct financial analyses and risk assessment
• You can synthesize financial models and formulas into summaries

Project Management Experience

• You have demonstrated experience in project planning and management techniques and skills including performance measures, benchmarking, and resource management
• You can lead and coordinate concurrent activities and complex sensitive projects
• You can lead project staff, analyze data and ensure project commitments and outcomes are achieved effectively and efficiently
• You can design, develop, deliver and evaluate training programs that support change initiatives and the implementation of project deliverables

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You have interpersonal, consultation, consensus, relationship building, leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and judgement skills and techniques
• You can lead consultations, establish effective partnerships, influence, motivate, build trust and develop win-win solutions with multiple stakeholders and team members
• You can use your communication skills to have impact and influence on stakeholders and team members
• You can simplify complex issues and concepts into easily understood messages
• You can use computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and developing process and flow charts
• You have knowledge of accounting software systems, information and data management techniques and packages to prepare your own materials and review financial information for auditing purposes
