The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.

Summary of position:

The CNC Machinist - Mills operates and maintains computer-controlled milling machines to produce precision parts and components. Responsibilities include setting up the machines, selecting the right materials and tools, reading technical drawings or blueprints, programming the machines using G-code, and monitoring the milling process to ensure quality and accuracy. They also perform routine maintenance on the equipment and inspect finished products to meet specifications. Attention to detail, technical skills, and the ability to troubleshoot issues are key aspects of the role. This position typically requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Main responsibilities:

• Machine Control which includes pull and send programs; tool change; trouble shooting; entering tool and D-Comp offsets; M.D.I.
• Understanding setup sheets, tool lists and Operational Detail Sheets
• Calculating Work Offsets (all axes)
• Indicating and Edge Finding
• Understanding program/D-Comps, part edge and center path programming
• Tightening and clamping pressures (i.e. 'Free State' condition and part clamped maintaining free state)
• Cutting pressures/Boring Bar adjustments (eg. Microhead); spring pass; test cut bore; graduations on boring bar
• Tape proving new and modified programs, anticipating what the machine will do before it cuts
• Preventive maintenance
• 6-S Activities
• Pre-start up inspections which incorporate Health & Safety awareness
• Running a combined number of machines simultaneously in a safe and effective manner. (Combo)
• Work closely with other operators and members of other departments to produce a high-quality part.
• 5-S Activities
• Adheres to all Company policies and procedures, including H&S requirements.
• Perform other duties assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• 3-5 years' experience in machining preferred.
