The Propulsions Research Test Engineer at NordSpace will play a critical role on the team to build and support systems to support the testing of engines and propulsion systems primarily using data acquisition systems (DAQ), LabVIEW, and National Instruments technologies. This role will also heavily support the rest of the divisions at NordSpace where mechanical, electrical, and software systems are necessary, as is typical in a small team environment. This role requires someone with vision, leadership, and a relentless work ethic that goes far beyond the norm.


Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test propulsion systems using LabVIEW, NI Systems, DAQs, and a variety of sensors/actuators
  • Develop software for our engine test cells using LabVIEW, ensuring quality code and efficient interfacing of hardware systems
  • Analyze data from engine tests and rocket flights to inform future design iterations and refinements
  • Participate in every phase of product development, including requirements definition, architecture and concept definition, specification and selection of components, control and monitoring requirements, algorithm definition, detailed implementation, integration and characterization


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace engineering related to testing and control systems
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, Master's or Ph.D. greatly preferred
  • Significant hands-on engineering experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation
  • Significant knowledge of and deep passion for the space industry at large
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct independent research
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills


This is a full-time in-person role at our head office in Markham
