Reporting to the Director of Core Networks, Xplore is looking for a strategic Senior Manager, Carrier Services/Relations to help evolve, manage, and scale our third-party telecom services from multiple carriers across Canada. As part of the Wireline Core Network organization, you will be accountable for managing the carrier services team and working with them to implement quarterly vendor scorecard KPIs and meetings, negotiate/renegotiate MSA agreements with vendors to achieve favorable terms and help develop a long-range backbone network plan, including preferred routes, IRUs, co-location agreements, and strategy.
• Coordination and negotiation with vendors (carriers) for transit, transport services
• Management of OpEx Budgets for Transit, Transport, Shared Services
• Analyze and evaluate circuit upgrade requests and requirements from capacity management team
• Collaboration with relevant teams (Wireline, Wireless, Strategy, Operations, Finance, Legal)
• Engineering Degree (Electrical or Computer Science) or Bachelor of Commerce is preferred
• Minimum 10 years of telecommunications wholesale experience in a service provider environment with a focus on internet connectivity and routing
• Extensive knowledge of internet delivery architectures with an in-depth understanding of the technical and budgetary implications and trade-offs associated with design decisions made at all network layers
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners to ensure optimal service delivery and performance
• Negotiate contracts and agreements with carriers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company
• Monitor carrier performance and implement strategies to address any issues or areas for improvement
• Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, finance, and customer service, to ensure seamless carrier integration and support
• Analyze market trends and carrier performance data to identify opportunities for cost savings and service enhancements
• Lead and mentor a team of carrier relations specialists, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals
• Stay up-to-date with industry developments and regulatory changes that may impact carrier services
• In-depth knowledge of the Canadian telecommunications landscape and competition
• Proficient in negotiation skills and business acumen
• Knowledge of Google Earth Pro (KMZ), QGIS, ArcGIS, DCIM, and QuickBase platform.
• Knowledge of Python and Databases
• Good written and verbal English communication
• Attention to detail ensuring accurate network documentation and written standards is created for use by network peers
• Proven ability to break down barriers and foster collaboration across functions and teams
• Willingness to challenge the status quo looking for new and innovative solutions to engineering problems
