About the Role:

The Building Maintenance Assistant role is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about hands-on work, repairs, and general handyman tasks. Based in Mississauga, ON, this entry-level position plays a crucial role in keeping our facility in excellent working order.

As a Building Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for performing general repairs, conducting routine inspections, and assisting with maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and efficient workplace. You'll gain experience in a variety of handyman work, including basic plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, drywall patching, painting, and equipment maintenance.

Working closely with Production Management and senior technicians, you'll receive guidance and mentorship to expand your skill set in facility maintenance. If you enjoy problem-solving, fixing things, and taking on hands-on projects, this is the perfect role for you!


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general repairs such as fixing doors, patching drywall, repairing leaks, replacing light fixtures, and painting.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues with plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and structural components.
  • Assist in maintaining the facility by assembling furniture, installing shelving, and troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following all safety protocols.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and document completed tasks.
  • Support inventory management by organizing tools, supplies, and maintenance equipment.
  • Assist senior technicians with more complex repair projects to learn best practices.

  • Handyman Skills & Repair Knowledge: Basic experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Hand and Power Tools: Comfortable using tools such as drills, saws, wrenches, and other equipment used in repairs.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Team Player: Works well in a collaborative environment, supporting and learning from senior technicians while contributing to the team's success.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for spotting maintenance issues and ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Physical Readiness: Capable of lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to log maintenance activities, report issues, and collaborate with the team.

Basic Requirements:

  • Valid G/G2 driver's license and insurance
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Working at Heights Certificate (an asset but not required)

Must be willing to work on-site at our Mississauga facility.
