Profile

As the Chief of Wiring, Avionics, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and Electrical/Electronic Design Assurance (EEDA), you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of our aircraft systems. Your primary responsibility is to oversee the design, development, and integration of advanced avionics and electrical systems to meet regulatory and operational requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers in the design and certification of wiring, avionics systems, EMC, and EEDA.
    • Define strategic goals for electrical and avionics systems development, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
    • Act as the subject matter expert and provide technical leadership in aircraft wiring, avionics, and EMC disciplines.
  • Wiring and Avionics Development
    • Oversee the design and integration of aircraft wiring harnesses, connectors, and electrical systems.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for avionics systems, including software and hardware development.
    • Manage avionics system requirements, architecture, and integration into aircraft systems.
  • EMC & Electrical Design Assurance
    • Lead efforts to ensure electromagnetic compatibility of avionics and electrical systems.
    • Oversee EEDA processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., DO-254, DO-160, ARP4754A, ARP4761).
    • Ensure that systems are rigorously tested and validated for electrical and electromagnetic performance.
  • Certification & Compliance
    • Interface with regulatory authorities (Transport Canada, FAA, EASA) to ensure aircraft certification compliance.
    • Lead the preparation of engineering documentation for certification and validation processes.
    • Ensure that all wiring, avionics, and EMC systems meet safety, quality, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Team & Stakeholder Management
    • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
    • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, supply chain, quality assurance, and production to ensure the seamless delivery of systems.
    • Work closely with customers to capture requirements and deliver solutions that meet operational needs.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in avionics, wiring, or electrical systems in the aerospace industry.
  • Extensive experience with EMC, EEDA, and regulatory certification processes (e.g., DO-160, DO-254).
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of avionics systems, wiring design, and integration.
  • Familiarity with EMC standards and testing methods.
  • Expertise in regulatory frameworks for aircraft electrical systems (Transport Canada, FAA, EASA regulations).
  • Experience with design assurance methodologies for avionics (ARP4754A, ARP4761).
