Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Programming & Technology Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing CNC Programming, Tool Design and Estimating staff.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage CNC Programming, Tool Design and Estimating staff.
  • Develop and manage action plans.
  • Improve and optimize departmental workflows and procedures.
  • Provide on-time production and customer support through proper guidance, mentoring and training.
  • Work with equipment suppliers to develop and facilitate the implementation of modern manufacturing concept plans involving multipallet integrated machining, automated part loading, auto-welding, automated production cells, etc.
  • Evaluate and implement modern software and data management tools for manufacturing and quality engineering purposes.
  • Develop and manage departmental goals, objectives and KPIs.
  • Perform various tasks as needed.

Position Requirements

  • College diploma or Training in CNC Programming or minimum 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of overall CNC programming experience with minimum 2 years in aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating CNC Progarmming and technical tasks.
  • Additional training or experience in Manufacturing Engineering/ Process Planning, Tool Design or Estimating will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent prioritization, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong mentoring and training skills.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent procedure development skills.
  • Strong CNC programming skills and knowledge of machining tools and adjusting speed and feed parameters to achieve maximum productivity and tool life.
  • Understanding Siemens and Fanuc controls.
  • Understanding set up and machining cycle times for estimating purposes.
  • Proficient in NX CAD and CAM, Vericut and Post Processing.
  • Excellent understanding of aerospace product drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and estimating.
  • Good understanding of Tool Design for part holding machining fixtures, inspection gauges and cutting tools.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing technology such as 5-axis multipallet and integrated machining, automated part loading, auto-welding, automated production cells, etc.
  • Basic or advanced knowledge of gas turbine engines.
