Job Summary

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Transit Infrastructure Management, the successful candidate will conduct transit infrastructure site surveys/inspections, record information in databases and analyze results, review pertinent drawings as related to transit infrastructure at bus stops, terminals and Transitway Stations in Mississauga and surrounding areas in accordance with MiWay's infrastructure standards/specifications and provide internal and external communications for areas of impact. This is a 16-month work term from May 2025 to August 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize and conduct infrastructure field surveys.
  • Review field conditions and mark out sites for construction of concrete pads and transit infrastructure as per guidelines under supervision.
  • Prepare detailed inventories related to transit infrastructure and summarize the information in various methods such as maps, charts, graphs, presentations, and reports.
  • Undertake measurements at bus stops that include bus pads, bus markers, shelters, concrete landing pads, bus bays, distances from intersections, GIS locations, etc.
  • Maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
  • Survey bus terminals and record infrastructure information.
  • Attend team meetings and update project progress.
  • Follow all safety procedures and be aware of changing surroundings.
  • Participate in board period changes related to outreach and infrastructure management.
  • Enter information into databases and complete various drawings using MicroStation.
  • Provide support and assistance to Service Development Section (including Transit Priority, Transit Planning, Scheduling, and Data Management).
  • Review Public Utility Coordination Committee (PUCC) and Road Occupancy Permit (ROP) applications.
  • Assist with other transit infrastructure initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have completed 2nd or 3rd year post-secondary education in Civil or Transportation Engineering. Enrollment for the subsequent year is required.
  • Must have a valid class G Ontario Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong computer skills in office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe) and MicroStation.
  • Proficient in database management and manipulation.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks.
  • Must be able to work in outside conditions normally encountered by a surveyor or construction technician.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, as required.
  • A Level 2 Criminal Record Search, acceptable to the City of Mississauga, will be required at the successful candidate's own expense.
