About the Role:

  • Occupational Health & Safety Leadership
    • Participate in our Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC)
    • Ensure compliance with Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
    • Conduct workplace safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard control measures
    • Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and safety incidents, recommending corrective actions
  • First Aid & Medical Emergency Preparedness
    • Oversee First Aid compliance under Ontario Regulation 1101 (WSIB requirements)
    • Ensure First Aid stations/rooms are stocked, accessible, and properly maintained
    • Act as a designated First Aid Attendant or ensure proper staffing of First Aid personnel
    • Provide Standard First Aid & CPR training for designated employees
    • Maintain accurate incident logs, first aid reports, and regulatory documentation
  • Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness
    • Develop, implement and maintain fire prevention programs in compliance with Ontario Fire Code (O. Reg. 213/07)
    • Conduct fire risk assessments and oversee the maintenance of fire alarms, suppression systems, and emergency exits
    • Train employees on fire safety protocols, evacuation procedures, and extinguisher use
    • Act for facility's emergency response for fire, hazardous material spills, or workplace incidents
    • Liaise with local fire departments, emergency response teams, and regulatory agencies
  • Safety Training & Compliance
    • Maintain up-to-date MSDS/SDS sheets for hazardous substances used in production
    • Conduct monthly safety meetings and provide regular safety updates to management
  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure compliance with Ontario's OHSA, WSIB, and Fire Code regulations
    • Prepare and submit WSIB injury reports, safety audits, and compliance documents
    • Stay up to date with legislative changes in workplace safety and fire regulations
    • Assist in managing external inspections, audits, and Ministry of Labor visits

What We're Looking For:

  • JHSC Certification (Part 1 & 2) from a WSIB-Approved Provider
  • Standard First Aid & CPR (Level C) with AED (WSIB-Approved)
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario's OHSA, WSIB, and Fire Code regulations
  • 2 years of experience in Health & Safety management, preferably in manufacturing
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and regulatory compliance checks
  • Valid G/G2 driver's license and insurance
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Must be willing to work on-site at our Mississauga facility and travel to our Etobicoke facility when needed (10% Travel)
  • Must be comfortable being on-call for any emergency matters

Nice to Have:

  • Fire Safety Management Certification (Ontario Fire Marshal or equivalent)
  • Fire Extinguisher & Fire Warden Training
  • Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis Training
  • Emergency Response Planning & Crisis Management Certification
  • Previous Military First- Aid Experience is a plus!
