Responsibility

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, working in a safe and effective manner
  • Perform service and preventative maintenance on all equipment within the DC
  • Respond to all equipment breakdowns in a timely manner based on priority systems
  • Maintain accurate parts and work order records (logged hours, Stores parts used, and detailed comments on failure cause/solution(s) or other relevant technical details) on computerized maintenance system (MAXIMO)
  • Perform repairs with minimal supervision, take responsibility and make decisions to see the job to completion within time demands
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems using electrical schematics, personal computers, panel layouts or manufacturer's specifications to effect repair
  • Work and learn together with Fortna Service Representative, Dematic technical support on systems issues and be SME for GTA DC
  • Dematic IQ Optimization of database management and Controls Systems
  • Maintenance and Repairs of Dematic Robotic Shuttle control software for troubleshooting and programing
  • Provide information on equipment/system problems to coordinator and provide updates as required
  • Provide required shift change hand-off information on equipment repairs or work orders to shift coordinator and incoming trades
  • Make recommendations to improve equipment operation/efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and improve maintenance service to customers
  • Demonstrate flexibility when tasks are reassigned or altered
  • Work with Mechanical trades and perform maintenance repairs as necessary
  • Follow maintenance quality and standard operating procedures as established
  • Perform PMS on the electrical panels, motors,VFDs, Shuttles and etc.
  • To work with a millwright when needed to complete any PMS or repairs

Qualifications

  • MANDATORY - Current Ontario Certificate of Qualification (Industrial Electrician - 442A) or #309A Construction Electrician license with relevant industrial experience
  • Experience effectively troubleshooting equipment electrical/controls problems and investigating the root cause of such problems
  • Experience in troubleshooting programmable controller (PLC) systems including Allen Bradley, Siemens systems and Beckhoff.
  • Experience in troubleshooting Dematic DIQ systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting, programming MDR Cards and controllers ( ITOH Denki, Dematic ECC)
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment as well as various testing procedures to diagnose and repair/setup of such equipment
  • Experience in the installation, trouble shooting and repair of DC Controllers and AC drives
  • Experience with Photo Electrics Sensors et up and calibration
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Conduct electrical preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
  • Experience in working with computerized maintenance management software (CMMS)
  • Ability to work at heights up to 50 feet
  • Ability to stand for long periods with occasional laying down, stooping, and crouching, plus frequent heavy lifting
  • Ability to systematically diagnoses faults in electrical and electronic systems and equipment and repairs or replaces electrical and electronic components as required
  • Ability to tests electrical and electronic equipment for proper function
  • Other duties as assigned

Assets

  • Experience working on conveyors, high speed sortation equipment and cognex scanners
  • Experience on TGW and Dematic SL2 Flex Sorters programs and divert controls and modules
  • Experience on Dematic ASRS and multi control shuttle system
  • Detailed understanding for programming of PLCs and PLC systems
  • Experience in DIQ systems for ASRS
  • Experience in troubleshooting MDR systems, Programing and maintenance
  • Experience in ASI, Can Bus, Wago
  • Experience in Sick light curtain safety systems and Fortress Lock safety systems
  • Experience in Cognex camera systems
  • Experience with Maximo CMMS
  • Demonstrated ability to plan/execute own work effectively and efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively either alone or with other electricians
  • Completion of a four- or five-year industrial electrician apprenticeship program to be eligible for trade certification.
