Position Overview

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the direct supervision of the hourly workforce, development and co-ordination of all activities dealing with the Raw Mills, Finish Mills, Terminal, and other duties as assigned.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Health & Safety - responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing all safety guidelines and ensuring compliance under legislation and corporate requirements
  • Provide supervision for and organize all Mechanical internal and external Personnel
  • Involved with planning for Maintenance activities and projects, such as mill shutdowns (short and medium)
  • Direct repairs for grinding mill systems during shutdown
  • Produce notifications, work orders and requisitions for various needed materials and services.
  • Assist in preparing 5-year plan and annual budgeting forecasts
  • · Responsible for determining the training needs of all supervised personnel
  • Organize payroll information for all mechanical maintenance personnel, organize and maintain vacation times, banked times and training schedules.
  • Coordinate and assist the engineering department with various projects in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • College diploma as part of an apprenticeship (millwright apprenticeship) or University degree in Engineering or another technical field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working within a heavy industrial, manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of cement plants or other heavy industry operations and processes
  • Occupational Health and Safety knowledge
  • Knowledge of maintenance and mechanical related terms and procedures
  • Computer literate for all MS Office software and specific applications such as SAP preferred
  • Implements OH&S Mission - Ensures alignment of OH&S activities arising from Companies OH&S mission
  • Ensures relevant actions are taken so that OH&S requirements are met
  • Identifies Hazards & Control Risks - Actively manages risks by ensuring that all related control activities are implemented thoroughly

  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment, with frequent exposure to heat, cold, dust and noise
