Position Summary...

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, training of the health and safety program. This includes the implementation of global standards (supplemented with local requirements) with respect to fire and life safety, powered equipment, general equipment safety, racking standards, preventative maintenance program monitoring of critical systems and equipment. It will also have the expertise to support improving the design of operational procedures to prevent/reduce musculoskeletal injuries (MSI). This role works collaboratively across the Ethics and Compliance division and with key business/operational stakeholders. The successful incumbent will be a cultural ambassador and ensure our programs reflect the company goal to provide a safe work and shopping environment for our associates and our customers.

What you'll do...

1.Design and implement national health and safety program standards and controls that meet provincial regulatory requirements and promote safety while reinforcing accident prevention.

2.Monitor program execution through analysis of metrics, audits, inspections and regulatory visits and make recommendations for improvement to key business stakeholders.

3.Responsible for the development of end-to-end program to ensure general and material handling equipment safety which includes; risk assessment, standards, controls, training and awareness, monitoring and reporting. This will include but not limited to lock out tag out procedures, preventative maintenance requirements, inspections.

4.Monitor preventative maintenance program for critical equipment and facility assets and evaluate and monitor the reactive maintenance prioritization of life and safety needs.

5.Manual handling injury prevention - evaluate tasks that involve manual handling and lifting to identify risks, implement ergonomic solutions and equipment to reduce physical strain, such as lift devices, workstations, collaborate with teams to redesign workflow and reduce manual handling where possible.

6.Develop and implement targeted training programs for safe lifting techniques and injury prevention, while promoting awareness of manual handling best practices.

7.Collaboration with cross functional teams to integrate safety into operational processes.

8.Liaise with facilities and regulators to support regulatory visits and remediation efforts to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

· Strong relationship management and problem solving abilities

· Strong written and oral communication

· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

· Monitors training industry standards

· Knowledge of instructional design or adult learning (ADDIE) an asset

· Experience with project management an asset

Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Degree
