A Day in the Life:
Production Management and Scheduling
-Understand Metal forming and Glazing best practices
-Ensure work lines up with our manpower capacity and scheduled targets.
-Attend T3 meetings to ensure production is being coordinated between departments.
-Have constant knowledge of current orders in the shop and customer deadlines.
-Ensure Staff are clocked into correct work orders, balance hours daily in SHOPLINK, manage overtime needs and staffing levels.
-Responsible for Continuous improvement initiatives and reduce/eliminate Non-value add (NVA) or waste where and when possible.
-Review on a regular basis, all drawings, process sheets, shop orders, and schedules pertaining to each station.
-Provide production labour timing and productivity numbers upon request.
-Participate in the interviewing, hiring and annual performance review process for shop staff.
-Responsible for training & development of the workforce at the plant level.
-Responsible for recruitment, disciplinary action, and terminations.
-Review actual hours as compared to budgeted hours
-Review Scheduled, Capacity planning, Long Term Planning with Production Control.
Equipment Productivity
-Ensure equipment is being utilized to its maximum productivity and efficiency levels.
-Assist equipment operators troubleshoot errors and production difficulties.
-Ensure high standard of 5S program.
-Corrective & preventive actions for improvements of production system and QA/QC protocols.
-Be responsible for pass/fail of QC concerns and 'Red Tag' sign off
Shop Material Consumption and Stock Outs
-Keep track of all materials on production floor to ensure no production is lost due to insufficient materials or incorrect material orders.
-Assist Production Foreman to coordinate with our inventory and shipping teams to ensure no excess materials are being stored in the production areas.
-Review department inventory levels weekly.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
-Able to review 3D drawings using Autodesk and understand shop production drawings
-High skill level on Excel and Bluebeam
-Ensuring the safety and prevention of accidents and injuries is integrated into all aspects of the occupational environment, and into every work activity overseeing the shop production process.
-Where necessary, enforce company policies and procedures.
-Follow up on shop Utrak Action Items to ensure completion of own items.
-Motivate and provide training where needs are identified, while maintaining a positive and healthy work environment.
-Liaise with Production Foreman, Production Controller and other departments daily or as required.
-Maintaining High Level of Quality Standards by regular inspection, communication, training, and monitoring.
What You Bring:
-5 years experience working in a similar role and industry; experience managing a team of shop employees is a must.
-Previous experience with CNC programming.
-Previous experience with AutoCAD.
-Previous experience with inventory management.
-Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
-Experience with 3D Modelling software preferred.
-Current Forklift License is preferred..
-Completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in an engineering or construction field is preferred.
