Job Summary

As the SQF Practitioner you are responsible for leading and overseeing the implementation, development, and management of the SQF certification program at our food manufacturing facility. This critical role ensures compliance with all SQF standards and regulatory requirements while driving a strong culture of food safety and quality across the site.

Now, if you were to come on board as a SQF Practitioner, we'd ask you to do the following for us:

  • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of SQF programs.
  • Manage and update the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan, ensuring compliance with CFIA and other regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee and enhance pre-requisite programs.
  • Coordinate and prepare the facility for third-party audits, including conducting internal audits to verify compliance.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on GMPs, personal hygiene, and food safety policies for all staff.
  • Perform environmental swabbing and product sampling, ensuring timely tracking, analysis, and submission to external labs.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, implement corrective actions, and manage product disposition processes as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to food safety programs, audits, corrective actions, and incidents.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, production, and other departments to uphold food safety, quality assurance program, and regulatory compliance.

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a HACCP or SQF-related role within food manufacturing.
  • Certified SQF Practitioner with comprehensive knowledge of SQF standards, HACCP certification, and strong understanding of GFSI standards and schemes.
  • Proven experience with food safety audits, risk assessments, and third-party audit preparations.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian food safety regulations, GMPs, and industry standards.
  • Effective communication and training skills, with the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • HACCP certification (required).
  • SQF Practitioner certification (required or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Internal audit training/experience (preferred).
