Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Asset Management and with functional guidance from the Transportation Infrastructure Coordinator, this position will be a key member of the team responsible for the development and implementation of the City's asset management programs for various road related assets. More specifically, the position will be required to:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, development, and/or management of the inventory and assessment program for sidewalks, multi-use trails, road pavement, noise walls, guide-rails, and other road related assets, as assigned. This includes the review and update of asset and attribute information in the City's INFOR, ESRI GIS and other asset management systems;
  • Support the preparation of the 10-Year Capital Program and Budget for road related asset rehabilitation and replacement, including the analysis and prioritization of needs, tracking of tenders and pricing trends, and development of unit costs for project budget requirements;
  • Support the development of asset management plans for sidewalks, multi-use trails, road pavement, noise walls, guide-rails, and other road related assets, as assigned;
  • Investigate and respond to requests for information received from residents, staff and members of Council;
  • Conduct on-site investigations, inspections and required testing to assess asset needs;
  • Coordinate project planning activities for the replacement and installation of road related assets, including the preparation of the scope of work;
  • Assist with or lead the procurement and management of professional services contracts as required;
  • Represent the Transportation Asset Management team at internal and external meetings;
  • Liaise with internal staff and external agencies and stakeholders to support the preparation of Capital Plans and other initiatives;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary graduate of a Civil Engineering and/or Transportation Engineering Technology program or other related engineering or applied science program is required;
  • 3-5 years of progressive municipal experience pertaining to the planning, management, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure;
  • Certified or eligible for certification with OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.);
  • Must have the ability to provide their own transportation options to various City sites;
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills;
  • Ability to represent the Transportation Asset Management team at meetings with the public and other stakeholders;
  • Sound judgement and ability to carry out work assignments independently and as part of a divisional team;
  • Experience with the management of inventories and datasets;
  • Familiarity with MS Office, INFOR (IPS 8) Enterprise, and ESRI GIS applications is an asset.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $41.93 - $55.91
