Position Summary
Performs scheduling/planning of maintenance functions, schedule oversight, schedule forecasting, schedule updates, progress validation, progress reporting, progress metrics analysis and customer relations.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• Collaborate with the project teams and functional departments to plan railway maintenance and construction activities, including Short Interval Planning (SIP) and long-term forecasting.
• Organize project work into schedules and distribute among the stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit Work Block Requests (WBR's) to schedule planned work on the clients' property.
• Utilize HXGN Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) System on daily basis to extract Track and Signals & Communications work schedules and enter WBR's Sin NAPT.
• Create Work Plan Methodologies and update as needed.
• Attend weekly meetings to ensure all submitted work blocks are approved and make changes as required.
• Provide additional information and respond to questions from the clients' representatives regarding the submitted WBR's by acting as a liaison between the functional department, project department and the clients.
• Summarize the list of approved WBR's and distribute them among internal stakeholders.
• Collect and analyze the feedback on the rejected/cancelled WBR's.
• Update schedules based on the approved/rejected/cancelled WBR's and distribute among the stakeholders.
• Collect and analyze information regarding the completed work during the approved WB and address any deviations from the plans.
• Prepare and distribute reports on various scheduling and WB metrics.
• Participate in and occasionally lead meetings with the internal and external stakeholders.
• Attend site visits and project sites, as required.
• Other duties as required
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Knowledge of the project management principles and practices.
• 2+ years of experience in planning, scheduling or coordinating project activities.
• Strong understanding of scheduling processes and tools.
• Understanding of Railroad terminology. Knowledge of Signaling, Communications, Track, Overhead Catenary and Track Power Systems is an asset.
• Ability to develop work breakdown structure (WBS) and organize activities into schedules.
• Ability to critically analyze data and develop metrics reports.
• Punctuality and attention to detail.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and pursue long-term career goals.
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Prior railway experience is an asset.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Work indoors, with occasional on-site/outdoor work.
• Frequently sit, stand, walk, read, write and use a computer keyboard.
• May climb, balance, stoop, and crouch while negotiating work areas under construction.
• May be exposed to harsh weather conditions and loud noise.
