This is a hybrid role in Ottawa, Ontario.

Position Summary


The successful Business Process Automation Specialist candidate will implement, integrate, and troubleshoot/test Business Process Automation (BPA) flows/processes including web service invocations, embedded scripts, and user interactions. The successful candidate will work with end users and other stakeholders to define and refine the applicable Business Processes prior to implementation and follow-up with them post-implementation to confirm that what has been implemented meets the need in practical use. The successful candidate will lead and oversee the work of a small team of BPA specialists.


Key Areas of Responsibility


• Implement, integrate, and troubleshoot/test Business Process Automation (BPA) flows/processes including web service invocations, embedded scripts, and user interactions;
• Automate Business Processes, engaging with relevant stakeholders to ensure the defined processes meet the need;
• Champion digital transformation and automation within In-Service Support projects; and
• Lead and oversee the work of a small team of BPA specialists.
• To provide products and customer solutions in consistency with all stakeholders' needs and entity policies, as well as continuously enhance engineering competitiveness.


Basic Qualifications


• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent education with relevant experience
• Software Development experience: 8 years, including:
o Leading a Software Development or Software Test team: 2 years
o Development of Web Services: 5 years, including:
i. Use of Javascript for web application development: 2 years
• Experience defining software requirements, user stories, and/or GUI UX design based on stakeholder needs

Preferred Qualifications


• Experience with UX design and/or implementing GUIs
• Experience automating business processes using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN)
• Excellent "soft skills" relevant to leading a team and engaging with stakeholders
• Experience working in a scrum/agile software development environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proven problem solving and analytic skills with a desire to learn
• Experience with military or aerospace domains


Physical Demands

No significant physical effort expected.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

• Ability to obtain a NATO Secret security clearance
• Ability to meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program (including ITAR-controlled articles)


Special Position Requirements


• Schedule: Full time, in line with Thales Canada core hours
• Physical Environment: Office / Desk work: > 90%, with a possibility of some lab or field work
• Travel: Travel may be required and/or daily travel within greater Ottawa region, < 10%
