Under the direction of the Supervisor, Facility Operations, the Facility Operator is part of a front line team responsible for operating, maintaining, and housekeeping of Town facilities including recreation facilities, outdoor skating rinks, arenas, swimming pools, interior spaces and exterior amenities in accordance with policies, procedures, legislative requirements and industry best practices.
1. Completion of a Secondary School Diploma as well as a Refrigeration "B" Licence from the Technical Standards & Safety Association (TSSA); Certified Ice Technician (CIT) and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification from a recognized professional organization or college combined with demonstrated related experience.
2. Ability to operate maintenance equipment including pool equipment, snow removal equipment, fork lift, various ice resurfacing and installation equipment, various floor maintenance/cleaning equipment, and associated hand tools.
3. Practical working knowledge of infrastructure and facility operations, associated equipment (i.e. HVAC systems), applicable health and safety regulations (i.e. WHMIS, fire extinguisher, propane handling, Fire Protection and Prevention Act , Ontario Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Health Protection Act, and confined space regulations), equipment operations and maintenance procedures.
4. Good customer service orientation and interpersonal skills to deal courteously and effectively with user groups, general public, program participants, contractors and staff
5. Standard First Aid and CPR-C, WHMIS, Health & Safety including responsibilities to oversee casual/seasonal staff as per the Ontario Health and Safety Act.
6. A satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required due to the nature of the contacts of this position.
7. Class G Driver's licence in good standing.
8. Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
9. Knowledge of Server Intervention Program.
10. Flexibility/availability for shift work including days, evenings and weekends, and special events as required.
