Responsible for performing winter and summer maintenance to parks, parking lots, open spaces, trails, sports fields, Town owned property, and assists with special events.
1. Minimum of High School education along with formal academic training in parks related disciplines or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Class "G" Driver's Licence required in good standing and a DZ is preferred to operate all Parks equipment.
3. Previous experience in municipal parks or horticulture/forestry, sports field/turf maintenance is required.
4. Available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
5. Ability to take and provide directions and the ability to work on own initiative and to respond appropriately to any situation which may arise.
6. Ability to read, comprehend and understand WHIMIS labels, equipment manuals, complete logs and incident reports to fulfill health and safety obligations.
7. Practical working knowledge of health and safety regulations and trained in WHIMIS procedures to deal with equipment, and parks maintenance.
8. Ability to operate parks related equipment such as trucks and trailers, riding mower, tractors, trimming equipment, snow removal and salting equipment.
9. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with staff, park users/groups and the general public.
10. Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Record Check) acceptable to the Town.
