JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Planning & Scheduling Technician.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Maintenance/Production, this position is responsible for OPG's public outreach, engagement and education efforts as part of the company's commitment to growing its social license.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accountable for the health, safety and well-being of self and others, in accordance with technical/operating procedures and standards.
  • Assist Supervisor by specifying, testing and implementing approved changes/improvements on information/work management systems. Develop, utilize and/or modify report generators to satisfy report requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of business systems, work practices and schedules through attendance at courses or lectures, reading of technical literature, reviewing of logs, reports, and by ongoing collaboration with other work groups.
  • Monitor progress of schedules and work programs, which includes job site visits. Troubleshoot problems related to non-standard outputs, review reports obtained through discussions at meetings attended or generated through work management systems and identify variances in the schedule, cost estimate or resource allocations. Facilitate and take minutes of the meetings attended, following up with participants on resolution of outstanding items, as required. Provide status reports and projections.
  • Prepare and maintain records for official documentation purposes.
  • Prepare diagrams, reports and networks reflecting planned work, sequence of events, timelines and resource constraints. Review drawings and established procedures to obtain material requirements and initiate ordering of materials and follow up to expedite requests as required. Inform designated authority where materials do not meet design specifications, such as obsolescence/ non-standardization.
  • Provide a technical scheduling service through creation of resource-level schedules, critical path network diagrams and resource allocations. Initiate appropriate applications for work protection. Review drawings and obtain material requirements and requisitions as required.
  • Provide technical planning assistance to various groups and recommend a logical work sequence and appropriate cost and resource allocation for designated work orders/projects, based on collaboration with others involved, established procedures and historically related work programs and schedules. Identify and resolve potential problems, recommending opportunities to improve on the process, logical work sequence and resource allocation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, plus up to two years of post-secondary study in a related field- Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical, or equivalents plus either a trades apprenticeship or powerplant operating training
  • 2 years' experience in a Planning and Scheduling role with Mechanical /Electrical trades apprenticeship preferred.
  • Knowledge of installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of industrial machinery and equipment in production plants and power generation assets, including hydroelectric generating equipment.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Software such as Word, Excel.
  • Work experience with planning software such SAP, Asset Suite, Maximo , etc

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
