RVA is seeking an experienced Senior Municipal Engineer to join our team, where you will be involved in a wide range of municipal engineering projects, varying in scope and size, related to water distribution systems, flood protection, stormwater management, drainage systems, and road reconstruction. As a Senior Municipal Engineer, you will provide technical expertise, leadership, and strategic guidance across multidisciplinary projects, while ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with relevant standards.

Duties:

  • Provide project engineering, technical expertise, analysis, and design services on a variety of municipal engineering projects, including water distribution systems, storm and sanitary drainage systems, flood protection, stormwater management, and road reconstruction projects.
  • Lead and manage all phases of project work, from studies and assessments to preliminary and detailed design, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, and support during tendering and contract administration.
  • Review and authenticate engineering documents, including memos, reports, drawings, and technical specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Serve as the engineer of record, providing professional oversight and ensuring that all design work meets safety, environmental, and municipal standards.
  • Conduct risk analysis and management throughout the project lifecycle, proactively addressing potential issues and ensuring project success.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, utility companies, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and successful project outcomes.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, project plans, and reports, ensuring that scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and deliverables are clearly defined and executed to the highest quality.
  • Play a key role in business development by identifying opportunities, leading client meetings, and cultivating strong client relationships.
  • Plan projects effectively, developing accurate scopes, cost estimates, and project plans to deliver high-quality work on time and on budget.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, designers, and support staff, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Support the growth and development of the team by sharing knowledge and best practices, ensuring the continuous professional development of staff.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, registered in Ontario.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, with at least 10 years working in a consultancy.
  • Extensive experience providing technical and strategic advisory services on municipal engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and team members.
  • Proven track record in preparing high-quality technical reports, design documents, and other engineering deliverables.
  • In-depth knowledge of local design standards, construction requirements, and permitting processes.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in meeting project timelines and budgets while delivering exceptional results.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching staff, fostering a positive and productive workplace
