Position: Network Engineering Technician
Location: Dome Productions - Oakville Fieldshop
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and maintain an array of networked based services and systems including LAN/WAN/WiFi networks, Firewalls, Servers, Storage, Cloud services
  • Configure and set up SMPTE 2110 deployments and Dante Networks
  • Respond and assist with system issue resolutions to maintain operational status
  • Develop strong relationship with vendor support, technical operations and management teams with an overall goal for improving facility service, client perceptions and system performance
  • Fulfill event based engineering support role ensuring complete operation of facilities during events
  • Contribute and maintain SR documentation and logging practices for historical reference
  • Proactively ensure system configurations and recovery data are current and maintained
  • Participate in technical meetings, initiatives, and discussions to improve service delivery
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends

Required skills

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of network switch configuration and management
  • Thorough understanding of network technology and protocols including TCP/IP protocols, VLAN, VPN, DNS, SSL
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technology like VMware ESXi, vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server roles and services including Domain Controller, File Server, SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint
  • Ability to install and support Desktop operating system (Windows & Apple Mac OS/X) and related programs
  • Strong working knowledge for media transport solutions over various protocols including SRT, RTMP, RTSP, HLS, MPEG-Dash
  • Ability to define and deploy network solutions aligned with successful interconnect of media devices
  • Experience in deployment of fiber based interconnects and SFP support
  • Experience working with Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) tools and SR service system
  • Experience managing cloud services hosted on Azure, AWS, Google, BackBlaze
  • Administration and maintenance for Disaster Recovery / Backup Solutions
  • Effective in working in a dynamic environment that requires multitasking approach with changing priorities

Desirable skills

  • Industry recognized certifications such as A+, CCNA/P, MCSA/E, Azure, VCP
  • Ability to perform simple cabling jobs (Cat 5e, Cat 6, patch panels, etc.)
  • Familiarity with software applications such as MS Office, Visio, AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with Cisco, Arista and Aruba network switches and AP's
