Summary of the Job
The R&D Pilot Operator will maintain process testing systems to support the Technology Team's validation process for new product introductions at pilot levels and full-scale customer sites.

Duties & Responsibilities:
● Conduct tests for water and wastewater products and systems, including monitoring,
documentation, chemical dosing, inspections, and communication with test leaders.
● Perform analytical laboratory tests and document the results accurately to characterize
process water samples.

● Regularly maintain and modify fluid system components such as PVC piping spools, valves,
pumps, blowers, and calibrate instruments.
● Collaborate closely with suppliers to source and procure fluid system components and
consumables, ensuring accurate and timely billing and invoicing.
● Collaborate with the team on health and safety, maintenance, and improvement activities to
ensure safe and efficient facility operations
● Provide on-call and weekend support for the testing facility, as needed.
● Act as backup for Guelph pilot operator, as needed.

Additional Information

Education & Experience
Required:
● Technologist diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering/Technology or a related technical discipline focused on water/wastewater treatment.
● Knowledge or experience with laboratory methods for water/wastewater analysis.
● Experience calibrating and troubleshooting instrumentation and operating water and
wastewater systems.
● Practical mechanical skills, including hands-on experience with piping, valves, pumps, and
blowers.
● Valid Ontario G2 or G class driver's license.

Preferred:
● Knowledge or experience with water/wastewater treatment with direct exposure to
membrane products and processes.

● Working knowledge of fluid systems (piping, pumps, valves, P&ID drawings, etc.) and
welded/fabricated items.
● Ability to interpret and create simple CAD drawings for Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
● Working knowledge of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and electrical safety (training provided).
● Ability to operate overhead crane and lift truck (training provided).
● Traveled domestically and internationally for work.

Working Conditions
● Requirement to travel for up to 20% of working days.
● Ability to lift equipment or modules weighing up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
● Exposure to municipal and industrial wastewater and cleaning chemicals.
● The work environment consists of various settings, including office, industrial facilities, and
laboratories.
