About this opportunity:

Cenovus is looking for a Senior Value Chain Planner, working alongside Optimization Engineers and with a cross-functional customer base, who will ensure models are updated and accurate, and that plans are issued on time per the planning calendar. Based at our regional office near Columbus, OH with consideration for the other US-based Cenovus sites, this individual will be the driver of optimization across multiple business units, the candidate will need to be influential, outgoing, organized, and highly collaborative.

What you'll do:

  • Own the planning cycle for 2 US assets that in aggregate translate to roughly $700MM in crude acquisition cost, depending on market pricing as well as in excess of $900M in sales revenue.
  • Ensure plans are updated, accurate & issued on time per the planning calendar.
  • Analyze and summarize activities and support reporting on progress and in identifying gaps.
  • Attend planning, engineering, and operations meetings.
  • Support Planning Analyst in analyzing past plan performance and variance from budget to plan to actual, to identify potential opportunities (back-casting).
  • Work with local Optimization Engineers for model tuning and updates
  • Work closely with Refining Assets, Crude Supply Traders and Logistics, Products Traders, and Marketing in developing the plans and analyzing ongoing Short Term Optimization (STO) opportunities through Crude and Products analytics, including breakeven analysis
  • Support the development of forward pricing forecasts, identify short-term/strategic opportunities and facilitate their development and implementation.
  • Evaluate, support and prove economic justification for capital and or debottleneck projects.

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in Refining, Downstream Supply or Production business environment, Commodity Marketing or Products Marketing

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Ability to build, use and run Spiral LP tools for supply chain modelling.
  • Understand, interpret economic impact of different Downstream Supply development options
  • Read, interpret, and evaluate Crude Oil assays.
  • Understand hydrocarbon market dynamics with special focus - but not limited to - Crude oil and clean fuels trading with the aim of being able to draw conclusions and facilitate management decisions.
  • Develop, coach & tutor junior supply chain planners.
  • Experience with IOCs or Western European Downstream companies.
  • Work experience in Process Engineering, Economics and Scheduling, or Supply/trading
  • Excellent communication skills (at all levels - i.e. : from Senior Management to peers and junior colleagues
