About the role

  • Work in a production/ Manufacturing environment - building cable assemblies and mechanical assemblies. As well as performing final Quality Control (QC) inspection on all assemblies
  • Familiar with Inter-Process Communication (IPC) standards 610 and 620. Also, Military Standards
  • Performing rework on equipment in for repair from the field
  • Perform manual and pneumatic crimping of connectors and components with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Execute manual soldering tasks as part of the assembly process, ensuring high-quality solder joints and proper electrical connections
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics to understand assembly instructions and ensure product specifications are met
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering to provide valuable feedback on design improvements and contribute to process optimization
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail while working under time constraints, ensuring that all components are assembled correctly
  • Work in compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, particularly in a highly regulated defence and space manufacturing environment
  • Uphold a commitment to secrecy and confidentiality, maintaining Secret Clearance and adhering to all security protocols related to sensitive materials and information
  • Adhere to regular calibration schedules for tools and equipment, ensuring that all instruments are calibrated on time and meet quality standards.

What you bring to the role

  • Proven experience in mechanical and electrical assembly in a defence or aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with manual and pneumatic crimping tools
  • Proficiency in manual soldering and crimping techniques, with an emphasis on precision
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical assembly processes
  • Ability to provide feedback and recommend improvements to product designs based on hands-on assembly experience
  • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one
  • Exceptional dexterity and attention to detail in all aspects of the assembly process
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Familiarity with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 or other quality management systems relevant to the defence and aerospace industry
  • Awareness of and adherence to calibration schedules for tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning and precision during assembly.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Ability to work in a production floor environment, standing for extended periods, and using fine motor skills
  • Must be able to handle components and tools that may require precision and fine manipulation.
Experience with the following:
  • IPC 610 and 620
  • Military Specification (Mil-Spec) cable standards
  • ISO 9001
  • Joint Health & Safety
  • Secret clearance.
