We are hiring a full-time, temporary Assistant Catering Manager (1 year contract) to join our team at Carleton University. Reporting to the Catering Manager, and working in conjunction with the other Assistant Manager, the Assistant Manager of Catering is responsible for the management and execution of each day to day catering event/ function from beginning to end.

About the Job

  • Ensures all contractual obligations of contract are met
  • Supports Catering Manager at client meetings in determining floor plans, rentals and staffing
  • Responsible for execution of functions
  • Resolves customer concerns in a timely manner
  • Supports meetings with the Catering Chef to plan menus for clients, special events
  • Recruits staff and oversees staff training
  • Conducts hourly Performance Reviews with assistance from Banquet Captain
  • Manages hourly staff and provides leadership
  • Sets staff work schedules and monitors staff performance
  • Manages progressive disciplinary process with assistance from Manager
  • Supports inventory process
  • Ensures proper cash handling procedures are followed
  • Maintains vehicle inspection reports
  • Conducts weekly meetings with Catering Team
  • Ensures adherence to Aramark's policies and procedures
  • Ensures adherence to Aramark's Health and Safety Programs
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management/ Food and Beverage Management or equivalent work experience
  • Management experience required
  • Smart Serve certified
  • Valid driver's license a requirement
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent customer servicew skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize to provide direction
  • Strong organization skills
  • Flexible Schedule Required - may involve some evenings and weekends


The selected candidate for this position will need to complete and successfully pass a Criminal Background Check.
