We are hiring a full-time Associate Food Service Manager to join our team at the Dining Hall on campus at Carleton University. This position reports into the Senior Food Service Manager and works with other Food Service Managers and in conjunction with the culinary team to oversee the day-to-day operations for this location.

This position involves planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the operation. The Associate Food Service Manager is responsible for providing leadership to a team of unionized supervisors and food service associates.

About the Job

• Responsible for ensuring the daily operation of the campus dining hall runs smoothly
• Responsible for operations, cleanliness, service, greeting customers, supervising 20-25 staff
• Schedules dining hall staff, calls in replacements, verifies time cards, assists with inventory
• Conducts staff huddles, Health and Safety audits, ensures food safety and sanitation is upheld
• Shared responsibility for recruitment, pre-screening, onboarding, and training of new staff
• Ensures proper and accurate signage is displayed for all items served on a daily basis
• Develops and motivates supervisory staff to attain proper standards of performance
• Liaison with the Marketing Manager to launch marketing initiatives and promotions

About You

• Diploma in Hospitality Management or Food and Beverage Management is preferred
• Minimum 3 years in a similar role in a high volume, fast-paced operation is an asset
• Managing within a unionized setting is an asset
• Thorough understanding of food safety, food handling and sanitation standards and expectations
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to direct teams in daily operations
• Must be organized, detail oriented, able to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel is required for administrative tasks
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule- will involve some evenings and weekends
