Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance and Administration (VPFA), the AVP, FMP is a senior administrative leader, who is responsible for providing strategic direction, facilities planning leadership, internal and external relations and operational oversight covering campus-wide plans in the context of the master plan; capital projects and space management; deferred maintenance; transportation initiatives; open space design; sustainability; and energy plans. The AVP, is accountable for the mentorship, coaching and general oversight of a dedicated team of unionized, and non-unionized, staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, communication, inclusion, responsiveness and transparency. The AVP, FMP will collaborate closely with university wide partners on the academic and administrative sides, including presenting to the Board of Governors and will be one of the primary liaison's to a number of external parties that works closely with the University.

Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate, you are a credible facilities leader with strategic and operational management experience, preferably within a similarly complex, multi-partner environment. You are an adept communicator, with a wide range of communications skills - formal presentation, negotiating, consensus building, and inspiring / building trust with others - in an environment where there are often competing priorities. Peers value your transparency, calming presence and ability to lead in a politically charged, and high risk/profile setting. You have a solid grasp of construction, design and facilities management and excel at contract, project and financial management. You are an effective people leader and relationship-builder, and a skilled practitioner of the "art of the possible".
