The Special Operations, Training & Logistics Branch of the Paramedic Service is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of paramedic specialty teams, including tactical, CBRNE, bike, marine and critical care; the Community Paramedicine Program; training and development of internal staff as well as external stakeholders; research proposals related to patient care or paramedic operations; and the provision of logistics, vehicle and equipment maintenance/stocking, cleaning and repair, facility management and general administrative/financial services to support a performance-based environment and the effective functioning of the Branch.
You provide preventative maintenance, inspection, repairs, quality assurance and consultation of all electronic medical devices including, but not limited to, defibrillators, defibrillator batteries, cell phone batteries, NIBP monitors, portable suction units, trachlights, battery chargers and radio batteries. You also provide written and verbal reports to the Logistics Coordinator as required, provide policy and procedures/memos pertaining to equipment, and correspond with equipment manufacturers and distributors. You are responsible for financial aspects of all bio-medical and electro-medical equipment within the Emergency Medical Services, Fire Services, Police Services and Public Access Defibrillation Programs (City of Ottawa Medical Equipment Center of Expertise). In addition, you oversee electronic equipment handling processes of Equipment and Supply Technicians, liaise with coordinators of other branches, aid the Logistics Coordinator with respect to issues involving departmental Medical Equipment Committee, and perform other related duties consistent with the duties outlined above.
Completion of 3 year community college diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology
Minimum of 5 years of related experience with thorough knowledge of supply and equipment needs of EMS Operations
Previous Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement experience with Advanced Life Support equipment is a definite asset
