We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Building Automation Service Technician to join our team in Ottawa, ON.

The primary function of a Building Automation Service Technician is to inspect, maintain, repair, and install building automation systems (BAS).

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Perform billable, warranty, installation and preventative maintenance service work as assigned by the Service Coordinator or designate
  • Enforce and adhere to the company's policies and procedures and Business Code of Conduct
  • Diagnose and solve customer BAS problems based on accepted industry standards and procedures
  • Recommend solutions to customers to fulfill building automation needs based on accepted industry standards and procedures
  • Provide Customer training as required
  • Create comprehensive Service notes documenting the customer Service visit before leaving the site. These notes must include all promises made to the Customer and must be sent to the office in a timely fashion
  • Provide specific, detailed information regarding parts and labor requirements to the Service Coordinator on a timely basis in order that replacement parts and quotes can be provided
  • Provide customer feedback such as construction and other sales opportunities
  • Take part in the after-hours on call rotation
  • Maintain and report on "truck" inventory
  • Suggest methods for improving product quality design and installation
  • Create and update procedures on tasks relating to the duties of this position
  • Complete a timesheet and submit it on a weekly basis
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience with troubleshooting and servicing building automation systems (BAS)
  • Must have experience supporting BAS Control Systems in the Commercial and/or Institutional domain
  • Must be well versed in Mechanical and electrical control systems (Including but not limited to heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning equipment such as air handling units, boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, heat pumps, variable air volume boxes, lighting control, security and access control, irrigation, fire alarm interfaces, and water leak detection)
  • Experience with BAS platforms such as Delta, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic, Niagara, Trane, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various electrical, mechanical and HVAC issues typically related to installation, wiring, plumbing and power
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools (BACnet Discovery Tool, Wireshark, and/or Visual BACnet) is preferred
  • Move up to 50 lbs and perform work on a ladder as required
  • Available for frequent Ottawa based travel during the week
