Work Description

The Drafting Coordinator is a key member in the design team for Tamarack Developments, and contributes to an award-winning, innovative organization and industry leader. This role is responsible for obtaining permits, prepare working drawings, and ultimately to provide support in the delivery of Tamarack housing projects.


Major Responsibilities:

Drafting Coordinator


  • Operate computer-assisted design and drafting for a variety of house types and projects;
  • Coordinate permit application with relevant authorities, including submission, tracking deadlines, and delivery. Maintain permit schedule, tracking dates and following up;
  • Develop and prepare residential working drawings from sketches;
  • Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets;
  • Create site plans, consolidate information on grading, surveys, utilities, and other important construction information;
  • Compile information for city permit applications, liaise with the City and follow up when necessary, tracking permits to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Manage cheque requests from the City and provide up-to-date cash flow charts to finance team;
  • Provide construction sites with permits and working drawings in a timely fashion as required;
  • Review drawings for homes, and bring them up to full working drawings;
  • Check and verify design drawings to conform to suppliers’ specifications;
  • Review customer design change requests, organize and prepare detailed notes for reviewing these changes with the appropriate consultants. Follow up and ensure timely delivery of this process;
  • Effectively coordinate all documentation for construction while maintaining accurate records and files;
  • Remain current with subdivision developments and amenities, and changes to legal environment in new home construction industry;
  • Respect and protect the privacy of home buyers, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination, their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture, and their right to privacy and dignity;
  • Perform clerical duties and records management on an as-needed basis;
  • Any other duties as required.


Statement of Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A diploma in an Architectural Technology or Technician program is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2022, and Revit 2022 design programs is required.
  • Prior work experience in drafting, specifically in residential home building is considered an asset.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply (1-2 years’ experience is considered an
    asset)
  • Experience using Ontario Building Code (OBC) Part 9.
  • Able to read and understand structural (floor and truss layouts), mechanical, and electrical design.
  • Sound technical background with logical deductive reasoning.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle, travel for work to remote locations is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral in English is required, French is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively plan and organize work.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and to work independently using initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail for file and data management is important in this role.

  • Overtime may be required to meet specific project deadlines.
